How much insulation is in your attic?

For Missouri attics, ENERGY STAR recommends about R-60. With blown-in insulation, that is usually 16 to 20 inches deep, depending on the type.

Look across your attic floor. If the insulation is level with the tops of the wood joists, or lower, you should add more.

Rather not climb up there? We'll measure it during your free estimate.

What we do

The right insulation for each part of your home

Loose-fill insulation being blown into an attic

Blown-in attic insulation

For most attics. We can add it right on top of what you have.

Spray foam insulation being applied to a wall

Spray foam

Seals and insulates walls, rim joists, and crawl spaces.

Fiberglass batt insulation in open wall framing

Batt insulation

For open walls, floors over crawl spaces, and additions.

Old attic insulation being vacuumed out

Old insulation removal

We vacuum out old, wet, or mouse-damaged insulation and haul it away.

We also seal air leaks around lights, pipes, and vents, so your new insulation works the way it should.

Questions

Common questions

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. We come out, check your attic, and give you a price. You owe nothing unless you hire us.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the size of your attic and what is up there now. We measure first and give you a price before any work starts.

How long does the job take?

Most attic jobs take one day. Big attics, or attics with mice or water damage, can take longer. We'll give you a timeline before we start.

Is there a tax credit for insulation in 2026?

No. The federal tax credit ended for insulation installed after December 31, 2025. City of Columbia electric customers may get up to $500 back for bringing their attic up to R-50. We'll help you check.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. You can pay over time through Acorn Finance. Checking your options won't affect your credit score. Loans come from Acorn's lending partners and need approval.

Which insulation is right for my home?

It depends on where it goes and what is there now. Blown-in works for most attics. Spray foam is best for sealing walls and crawl spaces. We'll explain your options in plain words.
